Medway Kennels is owned and operated by Crystal, Darren and Hailey Flemming. Growing up, Crystal's best friend was her families collie named Lucky. She always had a love for animals and knew that someday she would be working with them.
The saying " The Dream begins with the Journey" really came true when in June of 2003 Crystal purchased her first collie, named Journey, from Dennis and Helen Hupe of Buckhaven Kennels in PEI. Journey became Crystal's foundation bitch.. the start of it!! When Journey was 10 months old she received her Canadian championship the very day that Crystal picked her up.
In 2004, the first boarding kennel opened and the first litter of collie puppies was born. From there the business kept growing. Crystal graduated from Canine Communication Studies in 2007. She then begun teaching dogs. The business expanded even further when Crystal took her grooming course in 2008 but like so many things in life grooming took a back seat because she started on another journey when she met Darren. In September of 2009 they were married begun pursuing the dream together. In December of 2009 they opened their new boarding kennel located at 1260 Port Medway Road, Port Medway Nova Scotia. But life likes to throw special surprises and in 2012, the family grew once more with the addition of Hailey. Now the three of them continue on the journey together.
